It was our first official out-of-Miami trip together and everything was fun: the drive, checking-in at the hotel and getting ready for a day of fun. We spent an entire day in the Gulf of Mexico snorkelling, kayaking, swimming and enjoying in a boat from Fury Adventures. As we ended our adventurous day, it was beautiful to watch the sunset from the boat as we danced and drank wine while approaching land again.
Back at the hotel we came into the pool which we had all for ourselves as we looked at the starry sky. We were competing against each other on who could hold their breath under water the most. As usual, time went by super fast and by the time we asked the person in the lobby what was a good place to eat, she said Key West restaurants usually close their food services at 10 pm. We went back to the room, took a quick shower and drove over to a restaurant called Louie’s Backyard in the hopes they would still serve dinner.
The place was gorgeous! You can literally have dinner on the deck outside on a table facing the sea at night. Of course the restaurant did not make an exception for us, so Kévin said, “we might as well have a glass of champaign”. As we were watching the sea, the stars, the beautiful moon that looked blue.- I suddenly perceived Kévin moving his chair and kneeling right before my eyes! I could not believe what I was seeing… no way this was happenning now. He took a ring out of his pocket and he said, “would you marry me”. A wave of love covered me and I felt so happy I wanted to cry, literaly tears of happiness. A couple of strangers that were right next to us asked Kévin, “Did she say yes?” and when Kévin replied back they came to hug as and congratulate us. It’s amazing how love unites total strangers in celebration and joy.
Now going back on the turn of events, August 1st was actually a blue moon… Kévin had no idea, we figured this out when talking to people on monday. He did propose on a blue moon. Also, I knew Kévin was the man of my dreams and that we would get married. However I thought that he would at least plan for dinner! He later confessed he was carrying the ring all day at the boat and he said to himself, he would propose when “the time seemed right”. At one point after Kayaking, we were hanging out in the beach just swimming and as the sun was fading he wanted to pop the question, but as he thought of doing it, the guide called us back into the boat.
In conclusion, he knew he was going to propose that day but he was waiting for the right moment… I think it was perfect.
